When Carl found Maria Elena years later in another country, he immediately recognized her as the woman of his dreams. Soon after meeting, Maria died from Tuberculosis. This would not be the end of their story, and Carl made sure that he could be with the woman he had been in love with his entire life.

In the late 1980s through the early 90s an arsonist dubbed the Pillow Pyro wrecked havoc on the community and taunted those determined to find and capture him.
